About us
Loomery is a team of digital product makers who partner with organisations to help them learn at pace, launch with impact and lead their organisation forward.
Our making-led strategic approaches deliver solutions to help organisations go further and accelerate towards their product future in days or weeks, not months or years.
Since launching three years ago we’ve worked with large businesses, universities and startups to design and deliver new digital products and grow their digital capabilities. In the past few months we’ve worked with Tesco, Diageo, Jaguar Land Rover, and the University of Bath.
We're increasingly building at the cutting edge of the third era of personal computing, where AI-enabled smarts combine with Spatial interfaces. Check out our AI sandbox, our insights from spending a day at Apple with Vision Pro and our Spatial experiments creating an immersive environment for reading.
You will join a growing team, led by founders Brett Thornton and Tim Checkley. Brett and Tim are strategy and product leaders with over two decades of experience delivering for many of the most ambitious organisations in the world including Apple, Visa, NatWest and Tesco.
We are passionate about creating a diverse company that’s a stimulating and supportive place to work - and one that leaves the planet better than we found it.
How we work
We know that teams who put things in users' hands earlier learn faster, waste less and deliver better results. We put pen to paper in the first days of a project, and prioritise making over powerpoint.
We're passionate advocates of a customer-focussed approach, ensuring a laser focus on solving user needs. Speaking to users regularly creates rich insight and avoids risky assumptions.
Moving fast cannot come at the expense of quality. We set the bar high and hire people who are passionate about doing the best work possible and who help others do the same.
We equip ourselves with the latest design, prototyping, research and low-code development tools to slash the time it takes to get v1 out in the world.
We use the minimum amount of process to get the job done, meaning our pragmatic teams are able to move fast, keep things simple and ship early.
We love working with people who want to make a big impact and prefer to ask for forgiveness. We partner closely with clients to guide them through the journey.
The role
We're looking for a talented product person to support our teams and clients in the development of impactful digital products.
In the role you will:
The role will report into George, our Head of Strategy. The role is hybrid: half the week in our London office and half the week at home.
About you
You will work in cross-functional teams to get deep under the skin of our clients’ businesses, their customers, and the role technology can play for both. You will then develop strategies to create powerful experiences and commercial success, partner with designers and engineers to make that strategy reality, and help clients find ways to adapt to change faster.
You will be someone who is excited about the challenge of joining an early-stage business with a small team. We’re hoping for someone with curiosity and excitement about the latest generation of technology and is eager to discover how far they can be pushed in the pursuit of outstanding digital experiences.
We’re looking for applicants who have:
You will be:
The company we're building
Loomery is a three year old company, formed in unusual times, so it's hard to pinpoint exactly what it'll be like to work here at such an early stage. You will be a critical part of shaping it.
However, here are a few things we already know:
The COVID WFH experiment has been great for some, awful for others. We know we value time together face-to-face, in our experience it’s invaluable for building lasting teams.
What we’re doing - We work hybrid, partly from home and in the office 2-3 days per week. We’ll buy you everything you need to work from home successfully, whether that’s a new router, a lava lamp, or a standing desk.
Everyone has different needs and demands on their time. We want Loomery to be inclusive for those with caring responsibilities or health issues. As parents of young children we know how important it is to make time for growing families too. Sometimes work shouldn’t come first.
What we’re doing - We’re very open to conversations about flexible working hours and novel working arrangements. We also offer a generous maternity and paternity leave policy for all full-time employees who have passed their probation period.
Diverse organisations make for better products, a better workplace, and contribute to a fairer society. We’re committed to building a diverse team and creating a supportive environment where everyone can do their best work.
What we’re doing - We are taking advice on reaching under-represented groups. We will engage a partner to help design Loomery for inclusion. When it comes to hiring, we are using a wide pool of sources to fill this and other roles and prioritising lived experience over university degrees or certifications.
Everyone needs to do more to address the climate crisis, and even though our impact is still relatively small, taking action starts at home.
What we’re doing - As a first step we offset all the carbon we use. We’re also working through the process of certifying as a ‘pending B-corp’.
In our industry it pays to spend time learning about the latest technology or tool. We also love it when people we work with develop new skills and bring new ideas to the team.
What we’re doing - We provide a £250 technology grant for purchases of your choice and a learning fund, as long as it’s aligned with company growth and in budget, we’ll fund it.
You'll be joining a company three years in, and this comes with a number of considerations that we'd like to be transparent about:
