Growth Manager

About us

Loomery is a faster path to product progress. We form trusted teams to work on high value problems.

Our community of expert makers, remote teaming approach and flexible partnership model mean we deliver progress in weeks, not months or years.

In our first two years our team delivered digital strategy and new products for Kiss and Absolute Radio, Naked Wines, Tesco, The University of Exeter, Diageo, Moo.com and many others.

You will partner with the founders, Brett Thornton and Tim Checkley to grow the business. Brett and Tim are strategy and product leaders with over two decades of experience delivering for many of the most ambitious organisations in the world including Apple, The Met Office, Visa, NatWest and Tesco.

We are passionate about creating a diverse company that’s a stimulating and supportive place to work - and one that leaves the planet better than we found it.

How we work

Loomery branded icon

We learn by making

We know that teams who put things in users' hands earlier learn faster, waste less and deliver better results. We put pen to paper in the first days of a project, and prioritise making over powerpoint.

User testing icon

We speak to users (at least) weekly

We're passionate advocates of a customer-focussed approach, ensuring a laser focus on solving user needs. Speaking to users regularly creates rich insight and avoids risky assumptions.

Quality icon

We don't compromise on quality

Moving fast cannot come at the expense of quality. We set the bar high and hire people who are passionate about doing the best work possible and who help others do the same.

Loomery branded icon

We choose smarter tooling

We equip ourselves with the latest design, prototyping, research and low-code development tools to slash the time it takes to get v1 out in the world.

Loomery branded icon

We're pragmatically agile

We use the minimum amount of process to get the job done, meaning our pragmatic teams are able to move fast, keep things simple and ship early.

Loomery branded icon

We seek co-conspirators

We love working with people who want to make a big impact and prefer to ask for forgiveness. We partner closely with clients to guide them through the journey.

The role

We’re looking for a Growth Manager to grow Loomery with us. We want someone who can drive growth and make a quantifiable impact on the top of our funnel by finding and nurturing leads, managing new business activity, defining our demand creation approach, and contributing to our marketing and content efforts.

Success for this role will be measured by the health of our pipeline (short, mid- and long-term opportunities). As our first new business and marketing team member, you will shape the practice, create new processes and help us bring Loomery to the world.

In the role you will:

  • Take ownership of our pipeline of leads and be responsible for identifying new opportunities with companies that have a strong fit with Loomery’s services.
  • Manage new business activity, including pitching, proposal writing and applying to government portals, working with the founders to develop compelling responses.
  • Define and continuously improve a lead generation and prospecting approach that reaches high potential clients.
  • Contribute to our demand creation activities, including creating content and managing events.
  • Manage and maintain our CRM and pipeline tracking applications.

The role will report to Brett, who has a background in strategy, marketing and research.

About you

We're looking for an ambitious individual who is excited about the challenge of building a business, believes in our mission to make it easier and faster to build great products and has at least some experience creating growth in a product, design, technology or innovation agency.

We’re hoping to find someone who has learned the ropes at a larger agency or consultancy firm and is ready to make their own mark. We expect this individual to grow with Loomery, and we will invest in your development to make that happen.

You will:

  • Have 2-3 years experience personally generating new leads for a professional services firm or agency.
  • Be used to being hands-on running day-to-day business development activity.
  • Be a strong communicator, happy talking to senior leaders to understand their problems and how Loomery could help.
  • Have strong knowledge and opinions on the latest lead generation tools and techniques.
  • Be focused on continuously developing yourself to become a well-rounded contributor to growth.
  • Be able to effectively prioritise and manage your own time.
  • Have a systematic, diligent and detail-oriented approach.
  • Be proactive and self-starting.

It’s not essential, but it helps if:

  • You have experience creating content related to the innovation, product or design space.
  • You have a passion or interest in the low-code ecosystem and workflow automation (tools such as Webflow, Adalo, Airtable, Zapier and Shopify).

The company we're building

Loomery is a two year old company, formed in unusual times, so it's hard to pinpoint exactly what it'll be like to work here at such an early stage. You will be a critical part of shaping it.

However, here are a few things we already know:

1. We have a few draft principles that have guided us in our work so far:

  • Make each other successful - By paying attention to others we set aside ego and work as a team.
  • Passionate about quality - We share high standards, and take pride in the detail.
  • Cross-functional and curious - We are open-minded, we ask questions, we listen, we cross-over specialisms and we learn.
  • Own and act - We value those who move things forward, taking responsibility to solve problems for and with others.
  • Care for our clients - We build empathy for our clients and deliver an outstanding service, not just great products.
  • Value over process - Our goal is to deliver value fast and we adopt just enough process to make that happen.

2. We are investing in the things we care about:‍

Flexibility in where we work

The COVID WFH experiment has been great for some, awful for others. We know we value time together face-to-face, in our experience it’s invaluable for building lasting teams.

What we’re doing - We work from home most of the week but try to meet in person at least once a week, normally at a shared office space in Shoreditch, sometimes for dinner or coffee. We’ll buy you everything you need to work from home successfully, whether that’s a shed, a new router, a lava lamp, or a standing desk.

Flexibility in how we work

Everyone has different needs and demands on their time. We want Loomery to be inclusive for those with caring responsibilities or health issues. As parents of young children we know how important it is to make time for growing families too. Sometimes work shouldn’t come first.

What we’re doing - We’re very open to conversations about flexible working hours and novel working arrangements. We also offer a generous maternity and paternity leave policy for all full-time employees who have passed their probation period.

Creating a diverse team

Diverse organisations make for better products, a better workplace, and contribute to a fairer society. We’re committed to building a diverse team and creating a supportive environment where everyone can do their best work.

What we’re doing - We are taking advice on reaching under-represented groups. We will engage a partner to help design Loomery for inclusion. When it comes to hiring, we are using a wide pool of sources to fill this and other roles and prioritising lived experience over university degrees or certifications.

Leaving the planet better than we found it

Everyone needs to do more to address the climate crisis, and even though our impact is still relatively small, taking action starts at home.

What we’re doing - As a first step we offset all the carbon we use. We’re also working through the process of certifying as a ‘pending B-corp’.

Tinkering & learning

In our industry it pays to spend time learning about the latest technology or tool. We also love it when people we work with develop new skills and bring new ideas to the team.

What we’re doing - We provide a £250 technology grant for purchases of your choice and a learning fund, as long as it’s aligned with company growth and in budget, we’ll fund it.

3. Startups are fun, but a bit unpredictable:

We've funded our own journey and growth as a company. Things have gone faster than we anticipated, with multiple clients signed and the financial stability to make full-time hires.

You'll be joining a startup 24 months in, and this comes with a number of considerations that we'd like to be transparent about:

  • Early-stage companies are unpredictable and a bit risky. There are open questions and unvalidated assumptions in what we're doing.
  • Change is continuous and by design. If everything goes to plan we’ll be a very different business in 12 months, and unrecognisable in 24. We find that exciting, hopefully you do too.
  • Progression isn’t a straight line. Lots of unpredictable factors will positively and negatively affect both your progression and the progression of the company. If you’re excited by the opportunity to face varied and rapidly-changing growth opportunities, then this is the place for you!

How to apply

If all of this sounds interesting, we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch below, sharing your CV and a covering email introducing yourself and telling us why you’re right for this role.

We expect the interview process to be two rounds, held over Zoom. We’ll follow these remote rounds with an in person meeting for those who are shortlisted.

Loomery is committed to fairness and equal opportunity in our hiring process. Please let us know if you have specific requirements that should reasonably be factored into the application process, or if you’d like us to clarify any aspects of the role.
